What to Expect
When you book a shoot with me, or even if you are just thinking about booking one, we will always start off with a consultation meeting. This gives me an opportunity to hear what kind of photos you are drawn to, whether you are looking for some beautiful wall art or a stunning box of prints, and how you would love to be photographed with your new baby. It also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions, get a feel for how I work, and to hopefully feel relaxed and excited for your photography experience.
Your maternity photoshoot will normally take around 1-2 hours. It is generally best done around 32-36 weeks into your pregnancy, when you feel you have a good bump, but before you get too uncomfortable! Of course this is very individual, and we can take beautiful photos whenever you are ready.
I will come to you for your photo session. As a natural light photographer, all I need is a nice big window, and I will bring along a selection of back drops, or we can use a room in your home as a background.
My style with maternity sessions is very natural, minimalist and simple, capturing the beautiful changes your body has made throughout your pregnancy journey.
Newborn sessions tend to be lead by baby, but can take around 3-4 hours. We want to ensure you and baby are very relaxed and comfortable so lots of time for feeds and soothing baby to sleep are key!
The easiest time to photograph a newborn is within the first 2 weeks, as this is when they are most snoozy. That being said, I appreciate this time can go by in a bit of a blur, and we can always get lovely photographs when baby is a little older.
As with your maternity shoot, newborn sessions are photographed in your home. I will come to you with a selection of lovely blankets, backgrounds and a beanbag to support baby during the shoot.
My style for newborns is relaxed, natural and minimalist. I love to capture the little details, and the emphasis is more on your beautiful baby than on props and outfits.
